Louth Concert Society - STOP PRESS

Society learned a matter of 4 days ago that one of the violinists of the Brompton Quartet had met with a rather serious accident, which will preclude her playing for some time, and which effectively stymied them being able to perform this Thursday, 26 September at 7.30 p.m.

Thanks to the sterling efforts of Society Programme Secretary, they have been able to engage a replacement quartet, whose programme and brief biography they have pleasure in detailing below.

Josef Suk: Meditation on the Old Czech Chorale "St Wenceslas", Op. 35

Johannes Brahms: String Quartet No 2 in A minor, Op.51 No 2

Felix Mendelssohn: Quartet No. 2 in A minor, Op. 13

The Hill Quartet is made up of four postgraduate students from the Royal Academy of Music: Bridget O’Donnell (Australia), Kath Roberts (UK), Julia Doukakis (Australia) and Ben Michaels (UK). Newly formed in September 2018, the quartet were recently awarded the Royal Academy’s Sir John Barbirolli prize in recognition of the achievements during their first year and are scholars of the Academy’s ASSET Scheme, a chamber music fast-track course.

Concerts take place at 7.30pm at
