East Lincs Brass Orchestra (ELBO) is a new training band for brass players in the East Lincs area. We offer a beginners band and a training band amalgamating into a brass orchestra in the final part of the rehearsal.
No age limit or playing ability you will be welcomed for a blow.
The band is split into two sessions: a beginners’ band for those who are just starting an instrument up to approx grade 3, and a training band for people who are grade 4 upwards. Beginners’ band is from 6.30-7.15 pm with the intermediate band taking over from 7.15 – 8 pm. Players are welcome to play in one band or as part of both bands. A wide range of music is learnt and half day workshops throughout the year are also offered during the school holidays.
The two bands will be directed by both Lucy Smith and David Pearce, rotating each term.
You will be given expert brass tuition and direction from the tutors Lucy and David, with the possible opportunity of a short one-to-one lesson at some point during a rehearsal in the term. Our drum specialist Jacob Smith will be attending an occasional rehearsal (depending upon availability) to help with any queries the percussion section may have. The emphasis is on playing together as a band and developing your musical knowledge alongside a group of like-minded people.
ELBO welcomes all brass players, young and old from complete beginners up to experienced players. Whether you have lessons, already play with an ensemble, haven’t played for years or just eager to take up a brass instrument.
We rehearse during term times on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month from 6.30-8pm at the Louth Methodist Church, 2 Nichol Hill, Louth, LN11 9NQ 6.30-8pm. There is plenty of free parking on the side roads after 6pm, as well as Cannon Street car park and Broadbank car park, just a short walk away.
You can try out your first ELBO session for FREE! Subscriptions are then paid up-front at the start of each term. Each rehearsal is at a cost of £4. So for example, a term comprising of seven rehearsals, a total of £28 is payable.
At the end of each term, we aim to perform a public concert that is open to everyone – please see our dates page for details of our public performances.
