Serena Smith is a classical violinist turned fiddle player with a set list that never ends. She performs as a solo musician as well as in a few groups. Folk tunes, pop songs, oldies… You name it, she plays it!
Currently based in Lincolnshire/Nottinghamshire UK,Serena is a British American who has been playing violin/fiddle for nearly 25 years. Starting out with classical music in elementary school when she was 9, Serena decided to switch to Irish Folk music after university.
Having a background in multiple styles has enabled Serena to develop a unique way of playing.
“I spend the majority of my time doing street performances in many towns across Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, and other locations across the country. As a freelance musician I also play with various bands. At the moment I’m playing Croagh Patrick (a local Irish band), Adam Schofield, Jaq Gallier and the Band from County Hell. I have previously played with Mary Jane. I also have room to work with other musicians in need of a fiddle player for a period of time”.
“I also Irish dance and occasionally perform a few steps at a gig, especially around St. Patrick’s day! I love to travel all over the world and plan to perform in other countries and possibly on cruise ships in the future”.
Serena, who is also one half of Adam and Serena, has recently won a Busker’s Licence for several locations in London, and she is proving very popular on her weekly trips to the capital.
