New Orleans Jazz Club Louth

The Louth Jazz Club, or to give the club it’s more exotic title

“The New Orleans (Louth) Club”, is predominantly a Jazz club, situate in Queen Street, Louth, Lincolnshire. This Louth (Lincolnshire) club is possibly the last remaining not-for-profit members’ club dedicated to keeping alive the music of jazz. Part of the Louth area’s jazz scene for more than 50 years, the club has the music of New Orleans and Dixieland at its core and from time to time features more mainstream and modern jazz and blues.

There is a striking 3-storey former warehouse, constructed in 1714 using dark orange brickwork with banding picked out in yellow brickwork, that continues through as detailing around the lintels and sills of the windows. The clock, high on the gable end, came from the House of Correction (prison) after it was demolished in 1872. The building was formerly a ships chandlery and more recently a warehouse for Taylors, manufacturers and wholesalers of confectionery.

Here, on the first floor, is the home of the New Orleans (Louth) Club where bands play various styles of jazz, as they have done for over thirty years.
